Carson Beck's NFL draft stock took a hit after a disastrous first half against Alabama. Despite a valiant effort to orchestrate a legendary comeback, he ultimately came up short.

The Georgia Bulldogs fell to Alabama in a thrilling Week 5 SEC showdown, largely due to a rough first half from quarterback Carson Beck. The redshirt senior delivered a performance he'd likely want to forget, one that could affect his NFL draft stock.

Beck had a golden opportunity to solidify himself as a top quarterback prospect with a strong showing against Alabama. While his first three games of the season hadn’t been flashy, they were mistake-free, earning him early recognition as the likely top quarterback in the 2025 draft class.

However, Saturday night in Tuscaloosa may have shifted that narrative. In the first half, Beck struggled with accuracy, made poor decisions, and repeatedly threw into tight coverage. The result: Alabama led 30-7 at halftime, and many assumed the game was over.

To his credit, Beck and the Bulldogs didn’t fold. The offense came to life in the second half, with Beck tossing three touchdown passes. But his four turnovers (three interceptions and a lost fumble), including a critical pick late in the fourth quarter, proved costly. Georgia’s offense spent too much time sputtering, and they couldn’t overcome the deficit.

In the end, Georgia left Bryant-Denny Stadium with a bitter 41-34 loss. Beck finished the night with 439 yards on 27-of-50 passing, most of those yards coming in the latter stages of the game.

No one can say Beck didn’t fight until the end—he was impressive in stretches of the second half. But his mistakes doomed the Bulldogs and exposed weaknesses in his game, including inconsistent deep throws, questionable decision-making, and poor ball placement.

Beck still has time to bounce back, and despite his flaws, he's likely to remain a first-round candidate in the 2025 NFL draft. However, great players are often judged by their ability to deliver in big moments, and Beck fell short in this one.

Adding to the sting, his Alabama counterpart, Jalen Milroe, delivered a standout performance, raising his own NFL draft profile.

The road to the draft is long, and this story is far from over. Stay tuned!
